Only $15. We bring the smarts, you bring the hummus. Hope to see you there. Buy tickets early.
I interviewed former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick, who is the most successful woman in the history of American open-wheel racing and the former spokesperson for Godaddy.com. Her best advice is to…
“Create your own path. Nothing in life is set in stone. Life is this evolving, living thing, where there’s no one way to do anything. So make your own path if the one that is laid before you doesn’t seem to be working for you.”
Le enseñé este dicho de protección y invocación a la artista @naobustamante para su proyecto Enséñame Español en el tianguis de Westlake/McArthur Park. I just taught artist @naobustamante this protective and invoking spell for her project Teach Me Spanish at the Westlake/McArthur Park Market!

Published back in October: « Study after study shows that good social relationships are the strongest, most consistent predictor there is of a happy life, even going so far as to call them a “necessary condition for happiness,” meaning that humans can’t actually be happy without them. This is a finding that cuts across race, age, gender, income and social class so overwhelmingly that it dwarfs any other factor. »
Inspired tonight by the magical conversations and powerful work of Pasado Mañana with @elrafaesparza and @beatrizcortezflores along with @brownskinhazel @que.fresca @leather.papi @grrrround @fei_bian and @maeamaria at @commonwealthandcouncil.

So, yesterday, our overlords terrorized Hawaii, telling them that the fear they felt needed to be directed into fearing North Korea, now having peace talks with South Korea.
How obvious do they have to be before people reject their nasty, war mongering ways?
My friend Stan lives in Russia, where the US and NATO have lined up tanks, soldiers and missiles on the border, a clear and present threat and danger to him, but his feelings are never presented on imperial media.
”Hawaii got a small taste of what the entire world feels every day knowing the loose cannons in DC are just as likely as not, going to blow them up at any moment for reasons real or imagined, no one seems to understand. Every person felt that daily in Syria, Iraq, Libya, Yugoslavia and many other places that used to exist.
Heck, I have 3000 tanks and long-range artillery pointed at me well within range just 70 miles away poised to attack at any second. No one in the US has to think of that as a daily concern. Gabbard is another neoliberal war monger who some think should be president. That is insane, she is not as bad as Clinton but bad enough to ever be acceptable as president. If the US had to fear daily threats of attack, it might cause a few people to wake up and realize it is not a rational policy to be destabilizing and threatening any country with a different opinion.
Instead of waking up, this “accident” will play into the hands of the neo-cons and neo-liberal war mongers who will push for war…now, just as talks between the two halves of Korea are talking. The neo-cons hate when countries talk, they want war because that is their only solution to any differences or concerns. Their power over the world evaporates if peace breaks out. Cons of either sect, only have power when there is conflict.”

Cuerpos Unidos was everything we envisioned it to be. Powerful. Vulnerable. Emotional.

I think we are in collective shock/denial/PTSD about the radical truth of our power to obliterate most of human life on this planet in a matter of hours.
2 generations is not enough time to metabolise this human reaching for power we had no business trafficking in.
What it does most insidiously is depress a normal human desire to defer gratification and plant seeds for later generations to harvest.
It destroys our sense of continuum with the future.
Then the last generation has to take on catastrophic climate chaos as well, is it any wonder teenagers are trying to get high off drinking detergent, they are so desperate to change channel from this under-acknowledged pain, which makes a joke of evolution itself?
Medicines were put here in the natural world to make life better, opium for the agony of dying just as one example.
Use of drugs is a pained cry for help our societies are too addled with selfishness and consumerism to hear.
Addicts are shunted to the kerb, branded losers, and judged as less-than by people who happily imbibe the state-sanctioned drugs such as coffee, booze and cigs.
Much virtue signaling ensues.
Every addict dying under a bridge from an overdose could be someone you know’s family member.
But it’s easier to point the finger at them, shunning them as social lepers and thus feeling better-than.
We handwave about the spread of mental disease and its terrible fruits, but when we define happiness as something to buy, then we help condemn people to feel terrible when their dreams of success crash and burn.
Capitalism in its present predatory, cowboy-crony form leaves a lot of waste in its trail.
Much of that waste is human.
When people are on your case, or running you down, it’s easy to believe that’s how most everyone sees you…
In reality most of the people in your life want you in theirs. The enemy wants you to feel alone and unloved, but you’re loved more than you know. Reach out and you’ll see. Grab lunch or coffee with a friend and remind yourself why you began that relationship in the first place. Or feel free to call me. Because if you’re reading this it means I care enough about you to want you in my life.
