There is a new contemporary art scene emerging in Cambodia, which is pushing the boundaries of traditional culture and form. Young artists are emerging unshackled by the baggage of the past to define a new future for Khmer painting. This has been given extra momentum by new galleries and art venues in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap that are promoting these artists to the wider world. Check out places like the Art Café, Java Café and Meta House (pl08) in Phnom Penh or Damnak Alliance Café and the Arts Lounge in Hotel de la Paix (pi30) in Siem Reap.
Leading lights on the art scene include Tuol Sleng survivor Vann Nath, spiritually inspired artist Chhim Sothy and challenging young Battambang artist Oeur Sokuntevy.
With a tradition of craftsmanship that produced the temples of Angkor, it is hardly surprising to find that even today Khmers produce exquisitely carved silver, wood and stone. Many of the designs hark back to those of the Angkorian period and are tasteful objects of art. Pottery is also an industry with a long history in Cambodia, and there are many ancient kiln sites scattered throughout the country. Designs range from the extremely simple to much more intricate: drinking cups carved in the image of elephants, teapots carved in the image of birds, and jars carved in the image of gods.

A friend, and a well-respected one at that, is doing her part to rally the troops – that is those not consumed by the duopoly who want to field a truly ‘presidential’ candidate of, by and for the People for 2020. I’m sure she understands that possibility, let alone probability, being so very unlikely, but Hope springs eternal in the human breast in moments of misplaced, albeit renewed, faith in our human institutions as currently constructed. We DO have to turn to each other for advice, for comity, for reassurance in such confusing and troubling times, so I’m far from calling her naive (she’s not!) for aspiring to a higher-purposed national Cult Leader. It’s certainly my first choice if there existed a snowball’s chance in Hell 2020.
One of her points is:
“There is no good reason we shouldn’t at least try to have some skin in this game for once.”
I don’t disagree in the larger sense, no, not at all. It’s our asses getting skinned in every election and Ladies and Gentlemen of the Burner set, he was and is NOT the answer you were looking for either. More $Billions going into the fairweather fightin’ F-35 will see no serious obstacle from the mawkish and hawkish Green Mountain stater nor anyone else “fighting for the little guy” currently in Congress.
Alll that blah-blah said, I tells ‘em like I smells ‘em and I calls ‘em though it appalls (some of) ‘em: Left/Center/Right
My thoughts on 2020 -
<"There is no good reason we shouldn't at least try to have some skin in this game for once.">
“For once?” I’m confused. No, actually I’m not.
This insane and completely corrupt institution needs outside intervention. The provinces of the Empire must rebel with more frequency and efficacy in conjunction with whatever means we creatively assume as our own if – slim possibility this – real change is going to come to pass. The Owners have control of the Machine, the codes, the levers, the diminished hearts and minds of the hamsters and gerbils that dutifully Spin the bright and shiny Wheel.
George Carlin was right, you know. Underneath it all, all kidding aside, all of the idealistic yearning in the world be damned, George Carlin, Pryor and our other incisive poet prophets were and are right – “It’s a Big Club, and You ain”t in it!”
Expect further repression as the elements of the Bush-Obama security state are ratcheted down, news and events manufactured to fit that security narrative, ever-more distractions and false flags planted and both parties, Congress and the Supreme Court to be in synch with “the grievous dangers to our nation confronting us”… NOT in the interests of the sanctity of the Bill of Rights, mind you.
No, infiltration of serious threats to the duopoly will be initiated – ongoing as we speak already [FB is Theirs], its/their efforts checked, distorted, corrupted, co-opted, spies utilized, further political murders – Seth Rich was hardly an anomaly, he just happened to be white and exceptionally highly placed within the duopoly. And as foreseen by the perps, his assassination generally disregarded and attributed to “random urban violence” – case closed (hardly investigated by the Empire’s own State Security Services), BURIED right there in the belly of the Beast in the midst of a Presidential Sssselection process. And in the dulcet tones of George Carlin – “And nobody seems to notice… nobody seems to care…”
But PUTIN “murdering journalists” – now that is a grabber, a real flag-waving tear-jerker of wrong, wrong, wrong and so antithetical to our ‘American Way’, right?
The battle of perception for the American Herd is the fight in ‘Murica the Booty-Full. The Owners are under duress and will ‘play nice’ [that’s “act” nice] while and as long as we cling to the quaint notion that there are rules that are followed in this game. Rules ‘They’ break with impunity – look at Clinton vs Sanders – and once again – “And nobody seems to notice… nobody seems to care…”
Naw, this shit is Sisyphean. Something has to give. I wrote this a few days ago regarding the larger affliction what ails us…
“The “progressive” Left has been thoroughly neutered by distraction and an apathy of dissipation, Bernie-love, iPhones and all of the other trinkets of a yammering electronic prison, a trinket pantheon of disinfo and a well-planned diet of only a partial comprehension of the larger events and strategies playing out all around them, and worst of all — how they are being used as fluff for fodder in this epic battle of our own epoch.
It really is up to external forces to save the U.S. from itself. This nation of immigrants grown to such heedless and reckless power has become an abusive child to its parent nations. This so-called “Melting Pot” of humanity has become the poisonous bully terrorizing its family and dealing in fratricide as its currency. That’s what the USD represents and projects: the mark of Cain.
We need help, Big Help.”

From the Beating on a Dead Horse Department ——
“Finally, it is significant that the NSA would only grant “moderate confidence” to the accusation that “Putin and the Russian Government aspired to help President-elect Trump’s election chances.” Page 13 of the Jan. 6 report explains that moderate confidence means the information is “plausible but not of sufficient quality or corroborated sufficiently to warrant a higher level of confidence.”
In an apparent reference to those NSA doubts, The Washington Post reported on June 25 that “Some of the most critical technical intelligence on Russia came from another country, officials said. Because of the source of the material, the NSA was reluctant to view it with high confidence.”
Though the Post did not identify the country, this reference suggests that another key element of the case for Russian culpability was based not on direct investigations by the U.S. intelligence agencies, but on the work of external organizations with checkered histories.
Given the Intelligence Community’s history of deception and politicization – and especially given the false assumption about the 17-agency consensus – there is every reason to be skeptical and to demand credible and verifiable evidence about the core charge that Russia did “meddle” in the U.S. election.”

There will never be a “Prime Day”, clearance sale, or Black Friday doorbuster, on Christlikeness

There will never be a “Prime Day”, clearance sale, or Black Friday doorbuster, on Christlikeness. It will always mean legit self-denial, and it will always require faith, to follow Jesus. If you’re waiting to just FEEL like becoming part of a local body of believers (and all that goes along with it), you never will. If you’re waiting until you have enough SPARE time to pray, it will never happen. If you’re waiting to be able to COMFORTABLY afford to tithe, or give generously, you know that day will never come. If you’re waiting until there are NO DISTRACTIONS to regularly be in the word, keep waiting.
God says “Trust me first, and I’ll provide the means for your obedience.” He didn’t split the sea when Moses and the Israelites were miles away, and He didn’t part the Jordan until the feet of His people were in it. He is not a God of convenience, but He is always faithful, and He always rewards those who set their hearts on pleasing Him.

Not sure if it’s because I’m getting older or because I’m now a mum or whatever,
I’ve been feeling very sensitive to the environment and animals lately…
And really getting into the clean living thing…
I’ve cut out:
- Alcohol
- Meat
- Trying to cut out dairy (now I know what it feels like to be milked, I feel bad for cows who are made to be milk machines their whole lives.
I really want the govenment to ban:
- petrol and diesel cars or at least hybrids a minimum
- plastic production that is non bio-degradable
- sugar and processed foods
Maybe it’s a reaction to the polution we’ve caused our planet or maybe i’m being a big liberal softie.
Anyone else feeling this way?

✨Why can it be so terrifying to say “NO”?✨, No, I don’t want that

✨Why can it be so terrifying to say “NO”?✨
No, I don’t want that. No, I’m not interested. No, that doesn’t feel good.
I would love to think that after all these years of being dedicated to truly knowing and expressing myself, that saying “No” when I am a “No” would get easier. But it doesn’t, or at least it hasn’t yet.
Why? Maybe it’s because I’m a woman, and one of the conditionings that society has bestowed upon women is the belief that we must serve others before ourselves in order to fulfill our purpose. That to say “No” is to go against our training and duty of being a good wife, a good daughter, a good mother, a good lover.
But I do not think this is so, because I have met many men throughout my life, who have run up against the very same challenges. I do not believe this is a gender issue, I believe this is a human issue.
For beneath our smile-cloaked inclinations to serve others needs, desires or appetites in an act of heroic service—often exists a human being ruled by the paralyzing fear of being rejected, being abandoned, or losing love.
And THAT fear-based practice, my friends, is exactly what I seek to eradicate from my being.
What I will celebrate about myself, however, is that after many years of confusion about what my boundaries actually are, for the first time in my life, I actually know and feel on a body level what my “No” is.
In a culture doing its best to shame me into checking out or numbing out from the intuitive wisdom of my body—I have made it an absolute priority to get INTO my body, and discern the particular bodily sensations of my yes and my no.
As a woman conditioned by popular media, porn, and cosmo magazine to prioritize the pleasure of my partner over my own, even at the expense of my own emotional and physical comfort—I am committed to slowing down enough to feel into the nuanced limits and preferences of my pussy.
In a world where we are conditioned to be a passive “Yes” to the whims and imposed requirements of the people and institutions surrounding us, I am a stand for owning and embodying the potency of my No.
Why? Other than the simple fact that I desire to challenge societal norms and become deeply intimate to the nature of what is possible when I release myself from all self-imposed obligations rooted in fear?
Well okay, my big why is because I have learned through personal experience that the only way to invite true magic and greatness into my life, whether that takes the form of an intimate relationship, a meaningful career, or a life of travel and epic experiences—I must be willing to say NO to what does not suit the nature of my being FIRST.
And why is this? Because if we are unwilling to create space for that which we truly desire, and instead fill up our energetic and physical space with a whole barrel of personal “NOs” that we’ve contrived into YESes out of insecurity or fear of not being worthy of anything better—there is no room for the magic of the Universe to come in and conspire with us on our behalf.
We must take the courageously bold and vulnerable risk of standing in the truth of who we are, and trust that the world will come and meet us in our glory. That is how magic is made.
So, I will make a wager that if you’ve read through the entirely of this post, you are passionate and curious about this practice of mastering our “No”.

Please continue to fight to #killthebill Insist there be no vote until there are public hearing on the proposed healthcare bill

Please continue to fight to #killthebill Insist there be no vote until there are public hearing on the proposed healthcare bill. There is more time for hearings now that the vote has been delayed bec of McCain’s health. 22m people or roughly 1/6 of the population will lose healthcare under this bill. Yet there have been no public hearings. Cuts to Medicaid are harmful to the most vulnerable. Most major medical organizations such as the AMA (doctors), and the AHA (hospitals) oppose the bill. So do others representing oncologists, pediatricians, and women’s health providers. So does the The Autism Society of America, Autism Speaks, and the Autism Self Advocacy Network. Cuts in Medicaid will do great harm to the autism community and the disabled community. Also, the elderly and those in nursing homes.

The Day Lady Died
It is 12:20 in New York a Friday
three days after Bastille day, yes
it is 1959 and I go get a shoeshine
because I will get off the 4:19 in Easthampton
at 7:15 and then go straight to dinner
and I don’t know the people who will feed me
I walk up the muggy street beginning to sun
and have a hamburger and a malted and buy
an ugly NEW WORLD WRITING to see what the poets
in Ghana are doing these days
I go on to the bank
and Miss Stillwagon (first name Linda I once heard)
doesn’t even look up my balance for once in her life
and in the GOLDEN GRIFFIN I get a little Verlaine
for Patsy with drawings by Bonnard although I do
think of Hesiod, trans. Richmond Lattimore or
Brendan Behan’s new play or Le Balcon or Les Nègres
of Genet, but I don’t, I stick with Verlaine
after practically going to sleep with quandariness
and for Mike I just stroll into the PARK LANE
Liquor Store and ask for a bottle of Strega and
then I go back where I came from to 6th Avenue
and the tobacconist in the Ziegfeld Theatre and
casually ask for a carton of Gauloises and a carton
of Picayunes, and a NEW YORK POST with her face on it
and I am sweating a lot by now and thinking of
leaning on the john door in the 5 SPOT
while she whispered a song along the keyboard
to Mal Waldron and everyone and I stopped breathing
